Description
Wooden Ships Comments on this Buchanan 35 Sloop
Designed by Alan Buchanan & Partners and built by Priors in 1973 to Lloyds 100A1. She was one of the last wooden yachts built by this famous east coast yard.
The lines were drawn by Peter Williams working in the Buchanan office. Williams had previously worked for Kim Holman and it is clear to see the Holman influence in this design. She is not immediately obvious as a Buchanan with a little more sheer, more powerful bow sections and a more ‘Holman like’ superstructure design. At this time the designers were starting to put more beam into their designs, this boat has a beam of 10’ with a waterline length of 25’, quite an adventurous ratio at the time.
In present ownership since 2010, she has cruised the English Channel and made her way north to the Clyde where she is now based.
A superb sailing yacht with a lovely manner at sea, she has been adapted for easy single handed sailing with all lines lead aft to the cockpit and single line reefing on the mainsail, plus a modern roller furling system on the genoa.
