Wooden Ships Comments on this 21′ Clinker Motor Launch
Built in 1966 by Donald Currie of Oban for the Torloisk Estate on Mull. A very attractive motor launch and a very practical size, small enough that she is not a handful but large enough to make her a safe and practical sea boat.
The boat remained on Mull for many years before being found by the current owner in a sorry state in 2013. The boat was given to A&R Way Boatbuilders of Lochgilphead who carried out a thorough refit which included the following:
8 new larch planks
All new steamed oak timbers
New gunwhales and capping rails
New fore and aft decks
New seats and thwarts including under seat storage boxes
New Beta Marine 20hp diesel engine
New wiring, batteries, systems and pumps
A very attractive motor launch in superb condition with a detailed refit history. She comes with a custom made all over cover and twin axle road trailer. A very complete package in great condition ready for her new owner.

Construction
Clinker planked in mahogany copper fastened to steam bent oak timbers. 8 new planks in larch fitted 2013.
All new steamed timbers and copper fastenings in 2013.
Fore and aft decks laid in douglas fir planking with payed seams.
Covering boards, capping rails and sheer strake plank in varnished mahogany.
Thwarts and seating in varnished mahogany. Fore and aft seat either side with a midships thwart in front of the engine box. Lifting lids in the thwart to access lockers under. Seat across the aft end for the helmsperson.
Painted pine sole boards.
Machinery
Beta Marine 20hp 3cyl diesel installed new in 2013.
Approximately 200hrs use. Engine housed in a varnished mahogany sound insulated engine box.
Plastic fuel tank under the foredeck with electronic fuel gauge.
2 x 12 volt 100ah batteries charged from the engine alternator. High output alternator fitted from new.
