Description

Bright Star – 1995 Beneteau Oceanis 321
Volvo Penta MD2030 Diesel | Two Cabins

Origin Yachts presents “Bright Star”, a 1995 Beneteau Oceanis 321 powered by a Volvo Penta MD2030 diesel engine. Offering a two-cabin layout, she presents well for her age and benefits from a detailed ownership and maintenance history, regular winter storage ashore and a range of recent improvements.
In her current ownership since August 2015, Bright Star has received ongoing attention to her engine, stern gear, rig and onboard systems. Her standing rigging was replaced in September 2015, followed by a new Crusader mainsail and genoa in December of that year.

Recent upgrades include an electric anchor capstan, a 260Ah LiFePO₄ domestic battery with a 20A DC–DC charger, new rudder bushes and a new Vetus throttle and gear control mechanism.

Accommodation
Bright Star offers a two-cabin accommodation layout, providing separate sleeping spaces for owners and guests.

Engine and Mechanical
Her Volvo Penta MD2030 diesel underwent an overhaul by Power Plus of Cowes in September 2016, including replacement valve caps, rocker arms, gaskets and exhaust elbow.
The owner’s maintenance record details annual replacement of engine filters, impeller, oil and coolant since 2015, with belts, anodes and batteries replaced as required. Further work includes:

• New cutlass bearing in March 2017.
• New stern gland and engine alignment in April 2018.
• Replacement stern gland and stern bearing in March 2019.
• Engine check by Ridge in March 2023.
• Exhaust waterlock repaired and rewelded in March 2023.
• New propeller shaft stern bearing fitted in February 2024.
• Fuel tank removed, cleaned and reinstalled during winter 2025/26.
• New Vetus throttle and gear control mechanism fitted in September 2026.

Sails and Rigging
• Standing rigging replaced by Aladdin Cave Rigging in September 2015.
• Crusader mainsail supplied in December 2015.
• Crusader genoa supplied in December 2015.
• Mast-mounted radar reflector fitted in October 2017.
• Mast-light electrical circuit checked in April 2018.

Electrical and Deck Equipment

A small solar panel was installed in March 2019. During winter 2025/26, Bright Star received a 260Ah LiFePO₄ domestic battery and a 20A DC–DC charger, together with an electric anchor capstan.
Her recorded equipment also includes a Furuno radar, with its drive belt replaced in October 2017.

Maintenance and Recent Improvements

Bright Star has been stored ashore each winter at Ridge Yacht Centre since 2015, generally from November to March.

A ten-year insurance survey was undertaken in November 2025. During the following winter, the rudder was removed for survey and new rudder bushes were installed by Ridge.
Additional recorded work includes replacement of the freshwater pump and heads outlet seacock in December 2024. A liferaft was purchased in November 2018 and last recorded as serviced in February 2022; its current service status requires confirmation.
